Yes. All foreign-plated motorcycles entering Turkey must have valid Turkish Compulsory Traffic Insurance (MTPL). Your home country motorcycle insurance does not cover you in Turkey unless you have a valid Green Card including Turkey.

Motorcycle Turkish MTPL costs: 1 month €26 / 1,000 TL, 3 months €26 / 1,000 TL, 6 months €39 / 1,500 TL, 12 months €39 / 1,500 TL. Motorcycle insurance is priced lower than car insurance.

Yes. The Kipoi and Kastanies border crossings between Greece and Turkey are open to motorcycles. Ensure you have your Turkish MTPL policy ready before crossing — border kiosks can have long queues especially in summer.

Turkey does not require a carnet de passage for most nationalities. However, requirements vary by nationality and length of stay. Check with your national motoring organisation. Turkish MTPL insurance is always required regardless.
